“why do you play the game?” “I play it because I’m good at it and I like the glory” "No, listen to me. You don't play for the glory. You play for the love of the game. You don't have to prove to yourself why you do it. You have to prove it to everybody else in the world.You play for the person next you, the person that played before and the person that will play after you.You play for the people sitting in the stands, you play for those that put their life on the line everyday so that you can play this game.  You only get four years of high school football and then it will be over. You must be able to sit down at the end of the day an say “ I gave it everything I had” if you can’t do that don’t play.  This was a conversation I had with a person that I have known for years and has coached me for years. It  was a weird conversation bu it hits the points you people should compete
